In an effort to bring a few of you out of hibernation, let's start a thread that is easy to participate in... something with a theme. Everybody shoots 'em, and everybody may not love 'em, but we've all got 'em. Post your favorite sunset/sunrise pictures and comment on any and all that you may like.

For my first submission, here's something that I shot recently... a classic Arizona Sunset done up in a 3-frame HDR.

Wonderfully captured. To be honest I haven't shot a lot of sunset/sunrise. Maybe this summer I can get out there and get some practice. smile.gif

Thanks!
And oh snap! I was hoping you and I could keep this thread rolling until other people took interest. XD Oh well. Get out there and shoot. biggrin.gif

I'll go through and look at what I have. There's always the chance I'll find something. smile.gif

Rhavethstine thats a lovely sunset.

Here's mine. Don't ask me why it is pink as when I took it it was a wonderful sunset and the cast was orange.

I used to work in the quarry you can see in the distance.

Ooh, pretty colors. I like that it has a bit of foreground interest and the quarry facility in the background is unobtrusive. If those aren't the colors you remember, try fiddling with a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer or a Color Balance adjustment layer.

Rhavethstine, very nice shot. Love how the colors mix into a nice blend of spectacular and understated colors.

Doc, even with the off colors it looks good. Love understated colors, very calming.

For whatever reason I am always more inclined to join a thread rather than start my own... but I haven't shot anything in months. But heres an old one.

Cool beans. You can't go wrong with a colorful sunset and its mirror image in a lake. I like the birds out in the middle. smile.gif

I'll throw a few up. I hate it when purists say they hate sunset pics cos everyone and anyone can do them.

WRONG!

sure, people can do them, but can they do them well with some thought?

I try to add a difference to mine rather than snapping a bit of sky, for example - my favourite has to be.....

I'll add a few more later

Absolutely! A good sunset is hard to pull off sometimes. Imo it requires good exposure throughout the scene, which yours definitely has. smile.gif Unique foreground, perfect, glowing exposure, interesting weather, it's got it all.

I'm very proud of the following 3 photos. The 3rd is my super favourite!

This is my fav!

I can dig those shots, Mark. I think I like the third one the best as well (for its composition). The first and second photos win in the color department. smile.gif

Here's an indirect sunset picture that is somewhat of a work in progress. It was taken during sunset up on top of Mammoth Springs somewhere. Yellowstone.
