Wow, that looks like it was a challenging shot, looking directly into the sun like that. You captured an amazing amount of color and detail, all things considered. Something like this might add some flair to a game and fish magazine. smile.gif

how about one from last year?
I havent actually taken any this year.

Hey, from any time period is fine! biggrin.gif

I love the smoke-over-the-water feeling you get from this shot. The fiery sunset helps with that feeling, too. The image is very small, but I get the feeling that it is nice and crisp. Thanks for sharing!

hehe.. the original file is quite a bit larger, this was reduced for ease in viewing. The sunrise that morning was awesome. I kept going back to the pond to see if I could get a few more shots similar, but never got the same effect again.

And now for something completely different....
Yes, it was sunrise, but I turned around and faced west to take this shot.

Sunrise at the beach... (the beach actually runs east/west)

Sunrise off Hatteras....

Looking back through all my photo files, I see that I only have sunrises, no sunsets. I wonder if that's significant. Or maybe I just like to get up early biggrin.gif

You are a better man than I. wink.gif I rarely get up in time to see the sunrise unless I stay up late enough to see it before going to bed. I like that second one the best, the one with the sun cresting over the beach and the lone bird flying through the golden morning light. Is that a panorama or a crop?

That was a crop, rather than a true panoramic. too much land and sky for a really good shot biggrin.gif

hehe, I am usually up at 5:15 everyday, at work by 6:30. Sleeping in on weekends means not getting up until 7 or 7:30

Heh, I was up near Lake Powell this last weekend and wanted to get Horseshoe Bend with very early morning light. So I set my cell phone to wake me up at 4:00am. I get up when the alarm goes off and notice the moon is still out and it's not even bright in the east. Odd, I think to myself as I start driving out to the vista. Then I look at the truck's clock... 3:30?!? I was so close to the Utah border that my cell phone thought I'd switched time zones and woke me up at 3:00am instead of 4:00am. The evil creature! XD

So yeah. All I'm really trying to say is I saw a sunset for the first time in forever. wink.gif
