HDR with a ton of post work compared to what I usually do. I would really like to hear thoughts on this one because its rare I spend more than a minute or 2 on a shot, and this one I spent 20 or so minutes working on. Getting HDR's to work like I want isn't as easy as I thought it would be. Its a bit overdone. Does it work or should I tone it down? I dunno, I can't seem to get exposure, saturation and the elements to work together. lol

Sorry for the slow response. Surprised no one else got to it before me.

I think in this case you've used HDR to good effect. It's not overdone and blatantly obvious, like it is in so many images out there. That said, I think there are a couple things you could play with. Less yellow in the grass might give you a more convincing color scheme. Pull up a Color Balance adjustment layer and play with the sliders a few points at a time and see what you can come up with. Also, bracket more shots in the underexposed direction for scenes like this. You could have captured much more detail in the sky, it looks like. smile.gif

Anyway, I think you've got the right idea here, with the HDR taking a back seat to the overall natural look of the image.

Where is this, btw?

Thanks for the tips. Messed with the colors a bit, less yellow, slight bit more green. Think it came out a bit better... still a work in progress. lol. For whatever reason having more underexposed frames never even crossed my mind. Will have to try it next time I am shooting in similar light.

This was shot between Allenspark and Estes Park way off on a side road. Would never find it if you didn't know how to get there. Way off in the distance, can barely even see it with the full res file, there are a few old historic buildings. Put a few shots from them up on my DA page.
