Ok, I took this photo a few months ago and when I took it I got a wierd effect going on around the sun. My guess was that there were colors out of gamut, but the effect is wierd all the same. There is probably a simple explanation for this that I'm overlooking, but I was wondering if you guys had any insight into what went wrong and how I can prevent it in the future.

Here is the problem area from the original. If you save this and view it at about 300% in Photoshop you will see "artifacts" (or whatever you want to call them) on the right side of the sun. Like I said my only guess is that the colors were out of gamut.

But here is the finished product.

Wow you look at all your photos in such detail? Or was it more noticeable in the whole?

I am assuming you are talking about the pixelated look to the right hand side of the sun?

I'm not sure what you're referring to. I have to strain to see anything that remotely looks like an artifact on the right side of the sun. Could you re-upload a version of the 300% zoom with the artifacts circled, so we know exactly what you're talking about? smile.gif

Btw, is this from the unmodified file, or has it been edited (the 300% zoom)?
